Embracing a New Adventure
Pench National Park and Tiger Reserve, a hotspot for wildlife enthusiasts, has decided to introduce cycle safaris as an exciting addition to its offerings. While previously, visitors could choose between jeep and canter safaris, the cycle safari opens up a unique way to experience the reserve’s lush landscapes and abundant wildlife.
A Peaceful Journey through Kolitmara Range
The cycle safari is currently available in the Kolitmara range within the West Pench region. This route spans a distance of 48 kilometers, taking participants through the enchanting forests of Narhar, Banera, and Chargaon. Unlike the core areas of the reserve where tigers, leopards, and sloth bears reside, the Kolitmara range provides a tranquil and scenic environment that’s perfect for cycling.
Charges and Convenience
Visitors who bring their own bicycles will be charged a nominal fee of INR 100 per person for the safari experience. For those who choose to rent cycles from the Pench Tiger Reserve, the cost will be INR 300 per person per day. Each cycle safari group will consist of two to six participants, and an experienced guide will be assigned to ensure a safe and informative experience, with a guide fee of INR 1000.
Launching with Enthusiasm
The cycle safari initiative was inaugurated on August 20, 2023, with an impressive turnout of around 80 participants. Spanning various age groups, the participants embarked on this new adventure with excitement. The cycle safari offers participants the opportunity to explore the breathtaking landscapes and natural wonders of Pench in an eco-friendly and sustainable manner.
Exploring Nature’s Beauty
Cyclists traversing the safari route will be treated to some of the most picturesque landscapes that Pench Tiger Reserve has to offer. The monsoon season further enhances the allure of the forest, painting the region in lush greenery and vibrant colors. Beyond its reputation as a tiger habitat, Pench is home to a diverse range of wildlife and bird species, making the cycle safari a unique opportunity for nature enthusiasts.
Beyond Cycle Safari
The cycle safari is not the only eco-friendly attraction offered at the Kolitmara Gate of Pench Tiger Reserve. The reserve also features an agrotourism program that enables visitors to experience village life through activities like bullock cart rides, farming, and sampling local cuisine. This holistic approach to tourism promotes both environmental sustainability and cultural immersion.
Conclusion: A Novel Way to Connect with Nature
With the introduction of cycle safaris, Pench Tiger Reserve is inviting tourists to embark on a fresh adventure that combines both thrill and tranquility. As cyclists pedal through the scenic landscapes and enchanting forests, they will not only witness the diverse flora and fauna but also contribute to the preservation of the environment. This innovative offering aligns with the growing trend of sustainable and immersive tourism experiences, creating a deeper connection between visitors and the natural world.
